This study found that intermittent disturbance combined nitrogen and phosphorus adding promoted colony size and abundance increase of Microcystis flos-aquae. This result suggest that intermittent disturbance combined N and P adding plays an important role in the formation of Microcystis blooms in freshwater ecosystems.
