Stéphan Jacquet is the chair of the French Association of Limnology (AFL). His research projects at the Alpine Center for research on trophic networks and limnic ecosystems (CARRTEL) have mainly focussed on the ecology of aquatic microorganisms (viruses, bacteria, archaea and phytoplankton including cyanobacterial blooms) and more and more now on the ecology and impact of some invasive species (e.g. Hemimysis anomala, Dreissena rostriformis burgensis). Besides being a (advanced) scientific diver and the head of the national diving network for INRAE, he is also in charge of the scientific survey and monitoring of the largest natural lake in France (e.g. Lake Bourget).
