The inventory of Trichoptera in Topino river basin shows numerous species (83) in lotic and lentic waters, especially in rheocrenous and limnocrenous springs. 21 species are endemic to Italian fauna. The variety of habitats is linked to the tectonic phenomena which affected the basin from later Miocene to early Pleistocene.
