Metapelopia corbii gen. n., sp. n., a new Tanypodinae (Diptera: Chironomidae) from the Neotropical Region

A new genus and species of aquatic midges, Metapelopia corbi, is established for species of Pentaneurini from the southeast Brazil. It represents the first genus and species described in the Thienemannimyia group from the Neotropical Region.
